Beavers take part in the HLS Lego Building Competition

This weekend Beavers from 1st Houghton joined colonies from around the District to compete in the HLS District Beaver Lego Competition.

The theme of the event was the Olympics and our Beavers (Alex L., Alex B., Alfie, Jessica, Amy C., Evie, Olivia H. and Amy D.) took up the challenge with energy, building everything you could need for the Olymic games.  1st Houghton thought outside the box slightly by being the only group to design the winter games.  Set out in minature, there was the ski slope, seating for the crowd, an ice rink, a podium for the winners, the Olympic torch, as well as the famous rings, what more could you need?

It's fair to say it was a fun filled day and Beavers had a great time using their imagination to come up with some incredible models. We didn't win unfortunately, but we did have some fantastic feedback and had a great time taking part.

The Beaver Scouts Lego competition is just one of a number of activities which encourage Beaver Scouts to be creative and is part of a balanced programme of events across the year.
